I know for many they take everything from 1948 which was indeed horrific but for people to really understand I would recommend the book by Thomas Suarez "State of Terror: Jewish Terrorism 1920--1956".
He had actually written a book prior to this simply called "Palastine" taking it from 1948 until someone put him wise to the fact it all went way back further than this.
To write the book I recommend he managed to gain access to documents and papers that many people rarely get to see.
