Horrific interview Vanessa even for those of us who have lived under Israeli occupation in the past and know a lot about the Middle East. Amal is very astute and credible a great interviewee. I agree that Arafat made a miscalculation thinking that if he gave them what he thought they wanted they would let Palestinians have a state of their own. He was killed for not agreeing to legalise the occupation of West Bank and Gaza. He also made a mistake in not making a press statement after the camp david talks when Israel and Clinton did not offer a peace deal but lied to the media by stating that they did. I think the members of the negotiating team disagreed Witt this decision but Arafat was determined to do it his way. Anyway he paid the price. And of course many disagreed with the Oslo accords including notably Edward Said. They were right. It legalised the colonial takeover of Palestinian land but really offered no solution to Palestinian’s situation. Long live Palestine.
