Vanessa - this was an amazing discussion with Marwa. I’ve been following you for a year and realize there’s still so much to learn about the middle East history and the dynamics in the region. Thank you for bringing true journalism to us!

What books would you recommend reading to learn about the Middle East and the fight of Palestinians?

There are so many!! ;-) but I will try to name a couple of the best ones:

1. The Hundred Years War on Palestine by Rashid Khalidi

2. The Struggle of Major Powers over Syria by Jamal Wakim

3. The Ethnic Cleansing of Palestine by Ilan Pappe

4. The Rape of Palestine by Blake Alcott

Those will give you a historical and contextual basis for the current situation in the region and Palestine. If I think of more I will add them.

Former IOF special forces captain Miko Peled (son of 6 day war General Peled), who now identifies as Palestinian in favour of single state of Palestine, appears in two very informative videos at the channel below. Also Prof. Ilan Pappe, Prof. Nurit Peled.

Great chat. But I was so intrigued to hear you say that Syria is your spiritual home! I’ve been watching a few shows where the people are driving around Syria. I loved it. The place, the people, the feel was magical. I so hope we stop trying to destroy it. And I hope they get the Golan Heights back. 💜💜
