Pepper Gaza with munitions, proclaim the area unsafe, forcefully relocate the population, and claim sanctuary exists elsewhere? Who in the hell are these megalomaniacs suffering from narcissistic elitism? This is not liberty: this is slavery under oligarchy, kleptocracy, and a religious mafia of globalists. If this is the end result of capitalism mismanaged by greed we need to replace and reset the wealth inequality gap.

Thank you, Vanessa, for your ongoing coverage and insights. I hope you're OK after fleeing the horrible chaos in Syria. I can see how you might surmise that Putin made a secret deal with Trump, along the lines of "I'll give up Syria if you give up Ukraine", or something like that. It seems very unlikely to me, however, as such a deal would depend on Putin actually trusting Trump enough to make his move over a month before he was even inaugurated, and who's to say Trump would keep his word. Putin has been burned so many times by promises from the West, it defies logic that he would have believed this one.

That said, I still can't imagine what motivated Russia to back off completely. Sure, Putin was irritated with Assad for refusing to talk to Erdogan. Does Turkey in fact have so much hold over Russia, with its control over the Black Sea entrance?

Are you familiar with Alex Krainer's take that some sort of trap was laid? Seems a bit far-fetched, but who knows?
