SO MANY DEAD for no reason at all....except keeping the USA Empire going, I suppose. When this will end?

Every single death is one too many - Every single one of these souls have died while defending their homes and ancestral lands against the Neocolonialist who've lied and deceived their own people in order to justify plundering another nations resources in order to satisfy their masters insatiable thirst for profit.

Indeed it's all about empire - a dying one at that.

Yes your right read "Killing Hope" by William Blum it confirms what you've said.

They've been at war for 93% of the time since 1776 or 230 years.

Thank You Vanessa. My Greek friend, Eleni sent me this. I'll lead with it today.

This time may have arrived for the empire to also be taken-down in Syria, at long last.

Pure poetry, Vanessa. Pure prophecy. Much of my research is into the real Bible history, of the zealots who resisted Roman rule before the Bible turned it inside out and made the villains into heroes and the heroes into villains. Syria was a core of the resistance, 2000 years ago.

And I had to smile at your ending. My book, How to Dismantle an Empire, is on economics. Every time I turn around, some guy is telling me I need to read some male, aka real, economist. I wrote about it in this post: https://thirdparadigm.substack.com/p/mansplaining-economics.

Lol nice to know we are not alone. Thank you for sharing that!

Both of my areas of research, economics and religion, are the roots of patriarchy, along with yours on militarism. Even those critiquing the specifics fall into the same domination paradigm, imo. It's not about who's on top and who's winning, it's a completely different structure and purpose that's needed. One that's feminine and maternal.

I'm really valuing your journalism and insights.

That's very kind of you 🙏. I am delving into your work now. Economy is not my strong point lol.

Thank you for that, Vanessa, and for subbing me! You have a very wide range of people you read with many we share in common. My 'stack also has a wide range of topics so those who come for only one often drop out. I'm eager to write about you and the deep journalism you're doing.

There's always Dr. Radhika Desai, and her sometimes sidekick, that Hudson guy, here with roving-pleasantry Pepe Escobar. https://michael-hudson.com/2023/07/nato-moves-to-bait-china/

I don't know Desai but clearly should. Thanks for the reference!

Ellen Brown is a staunch supporter for a digital currency.

I have been reading Ellen Brown's work for well over a decade and I never got that particular impression. Do you have specifics? She always advocates non-profit community banking to prevent wealth-extraction and to support and stabilize local communities, municipalities and states in the longer term.

Then you'd have to be aware of her writings regarding a digital currency. https://ellenbrown.com/?s=digital+currency

Even though Ellen Brown appears to have the best intentions the introduction of a digital currency isn't in the best interest of humanity.

Blame Klaus Schab and the Davos crowd to hijack a great idea.

Yes, I have that up in my tabs because I want to include it in a new piece. She's brilliant and my book is based on her work and David Graeber's.

As an middle age American woman, I never followed geopolitics and tended to believe the war narrative(s) that US was “combating terrorists”, “saving the world”. Now I know better, but it’s so hard, if not impossible, to find out the ultimate truth behind all these wars and battles. I’m sensing US is not the hero, but rather the instigator. Is there one reliable source for the complete history of these global massacres? Seymour Hersch?

I would also recommend reading William Blum 'Killing Hope' https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/78130.Killing_Hope OR Stephen Kinzer 'Poisoner in Chief: Sidney Gottlieb and the CIA search for mind control' - these books will give you a very good insight into US globalism and how destructive it has been. Both books are very comprehensive and a good starting point - the authors have a very accessible writing style..

For Syria this might help understand the history of CIA black ops in the country: https://thewallwillfall.org/2021/10/28/75-years-counting-a-history-of-western-regime-change-in-syria-part-i/

Thank you for your reporting, and for the poignant glimpses of Syrian martyrs.

You’re right to point at the hypocrisy and propaganda coming from Hollywood & MSM, neither of which depicts reality, but are adept at promulgating fear.

It’s given that the US will create events to further the agenda. They’ll even throw a domestic bomb if it will galvanize the public, and/or distract, disrupt, demoralize. War crimes against civilians; crimes against humanity. Evil.

Thanks but I don't have any way to access bitcoin or use it. I live in Syria not the UK.

Expand full comment

hi, I'd guess that many Syrians would love to access bitcoin and will buy it from you with their local currency, enabling you to turn our international appreciation into local bread. However the technology is complex. This is how you do it: Get bitcoin donations, go to ByBit, turn bitcoin into tether, go to p2p trading and sell tether for Syrian currency which will be deposited into your Syrian bank account. Bitcoin would open up a huge income stream for ya. If you are interested and want help then reply to me.
