Dear Vanessa - and without knowing what your 'kidney issues' are I can say that having a kidney stone is not a pleasant experience! So I do hope all will be well soon. I also must comment on your photo of Qunaitra, which we visited back in 2010. It was an obligatory sort of trip, accompanied by a guy from Syrian intelligence who filled us in on the details - most notably that before Israel finally pulled back from Qunaitra around 1976, it blew up and shelled all the buildings there including churches mosques and hospital. There are a couple of flattened buildings visible in your photo too - which is why I wanted to point this out!
Get well soon and stay strong. You're very important for those of us trying to cut through the thick fog of propaganda obscuring all things Syrian . . . I'm sure staying healthy is not easy in current conditions---
