Do you think the Syrian Civil War would have started in 2011 if Assad had accepted the Saudi/Qatar pipeline? Some people have said he agreed to the Iran/Iraq pipeline so as not to offend the Russians by competing with them, but my understanding is that the gas for both pipelines was to come from the same large gas field that straddles Qatar, the Persian Gulf and Iran so I can only think Syria accepting the Saudi/Qatar pipeline would have led to undue influx of western oil and financial interests into Syria which they would have resisted - I believe they don't have a Rothschild controlled central bank. Also, Iran & Iraq were part of the 'Resistance'.
