President Assad quietly takes charge of the Arab League Summit
Arabic channels highlight the re-entry of Syria to the AL Club.
The weekly news round-up at UK Column. Below are the topics I covered:
Syria back at the Arab League Summit - President Assad speech.
Full speech with English subtitles:
The monstrous US Embassy in Beirut - 43 acres of prime land overlooking Beirut in a country where 80% of the 6 million population can’t afford to eat. This project was budgeted to need $ 1 billion in 2015 and will far exceed this expectation. This is not about diplomacy, it is a military, intelligence complex bordering Syria.
Secret talks between US and Damascus to ascertain whereabouts of so-called US journalist Austin Tice allegedly kidnapped in Darayya (south of Damascus) in 2014. Journalist or high level CIA operative? FBI offered $1 million reward for information in 2018.
Turkish elections - is the West preparing for an Erdogan victory in the second round on May 28th?
‘How death outlives war’ - the reverberating impact of the post 9/11 wars on human health. Latest report from the Watson Institute.
I comment on the latest UK regime propaganda about “Muslims” in Crimea.
Watch:
The best bit of news for a very long time. Saudi Arabia must now terminate the actions of the so called Syrian Liberation Army or whatever they are called including Al Nusra, Al Quaeda and ISIS . The BBC are (sadly predictably) showing dissent from “normal Syrians in opposition” about this development. They never ask any of the vast majority who actively show their support for President Assad. I’m genuinely heartened by this.
Thank you for posting this Vanessa. It was yet another excellent UK Column News programme.
