The promotion of 'Real Politik' as a rational argument by so called 'Political Scientists', pop 'Geopolitical Analysts' & 'International Security Analysts' on the left and right frequently amount to scurrilous, self-aggrandising, narcissistic behaviour. In fact these individuals often swim in the shallow waters where honesty, empathy and morality are secondary concerns.
Thank you for this important discussion. As you both say, while the West is hopeless, it's disturbing that the BRICs (except for Iran) who purport to value adherence to international law turn a blind eye to israel's ever so brazen disregard for any shred of if.
As political satirist Swami Beyondananda put it, “When it comes to facing the discomfort of inconvenient truths, many people prefer the comfort of convenient lies.”
Your discussion on BRICS failure to take ANY meaningful action regarding the Israeli Genocide is something that is not discussed. Like so many others who are happy to see the rise of the BRICS in the face of Western empire, I cast it in a very rosy light. But Fiorella's point that they are not "idealistic societies that belong on a pedestal and can do no wrong", and will create a new, just, multipolar world order - then "I want to know the difference to the people who are the most vulnerable. We'll see, and I wish the BRICS well, but we should throw out our rose coloured glasses when looking at it. (PS A fantastic discussion and a brilliant partnership.)
